History
Welbeck Mansions, noted for its fancy ironwork balconies were erected on Inglewood Road in 1897. The mansions occupy the site of a small brass and iron foundry built in 1861 by Tomas Potter senior. This foundry did much work for the Duke of Portland at Welbeck Abbey - hence the name of the mansions - and was demolished in 1897. Apart from the railways, this brass and iron foundry was the first non-residential
development in the area. Salmon’s Garages and flats are a group of late Victorian Stables which are thought to have been built for the adjoining foundry
