GREENE & CO. RAISE £3,400 FOR PROJECT BUTTERFLY HOSTING CROUCH END FUN DAY

24th July 2008

Greene & Co. raised £3,400 for the refurbishment of the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead hosting a Crouch End Fun Day on Sunday 13th July. The major event of the day was a Twenty20 Charity Cricket Match between the Greene & Co. Allstars and the Hornsey Cricket Club.

Fun was had by all with activities including “Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent”, a bouncy castle, local trader stalls, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, story telling, face painting and live performances by local artists and bands.

In this case, Soggy Sponge the Estate Agents' son! What a winner!!!

The Twenty20 cricket match between was won (not surprisingly) by the Hornsey Cricket Club with MD of Greene & Co. David Pollock commenting “Let’s be grateful that we are better at selling houses and raising money for charity than we are at playing cricket!” Even with the help of Eastenders Mohammad George (who plays Gus) on the estate agents team, Greene & Co. could not defeat the local cricket club!

£1,700 of the funds raised on the day was through raffle tickets and generous donations. The remaining £1,700 was a donation matched by Greene & Co.

Local Crouch End rockers "The Shades" impress the crowds

“It was a really successful day,” said organiser of the event, Jacqui Daley, marketing manager of Greene & Co. “It was a grown-up fun fair and a really nice way to meet new people in the Crouch End community. Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent was a big fundraiser and we’re really pleased with the outcome for Project Butterfly.”

Greene & Co. aim to raise £30,000 for Project Butterfly in 2008 and so far have raised over £8,500 through activities including staff donating a day’s salary.

“We chose Project Butterfly as the major charity for Greene & Co. to support in 2008 for two reasons. Firstly, it has such a local focus and impact on the North London community and secondly, because of the relevance of the hospice to our employees. Every Greene & Co. agency has at least one member of staff who has been affected by cancer, either personally or through a close family member. We wanted to show the staff our support,” said David Pollock.

Project Butterfly is Marie Curie Cancer Care's appeal to transform the aging building in Hampstead to allow their patients and their families the dignity, privacy, comfort and independence they so deserve at this very difficult time of their lives. The Marie Curie hospice provides holistic care for all patients with a terminal illness comprising of physical, emotional, social and spiritual support completely free of charge.

Martine Price and Adrian Balinski entertain the growing crowds with an accoustic set before the Cricket Match

Project Butterfly is only £299,000 off the much needed £3,750,000 required by November 2008. If you would like to donate to the charity please visit www.justgiving.com/greeneandco
