FACT: Most home buyers in London use the services of a Mortgage Broker or Financial Adviser to help source and arrange the most appropriate mortgage for their particular requirements.

FACT: The adviser usually offers a “Whole of Market” service which is understood by the general public to mean that they are able to access mortgage products from the whole market i.e. all lenders. What it actually means is that they are able to offer products from those lenders that choose to market their products through them.

FACT: Normally this does not cause any concern as advisers are a very efficient way for lenders to sell their mortgages and so often offer products that are as competitive as direct offers and in some cases even more competitive. This usually means a competitive mortgage rate for you, offered with the back up of ongoing advice from an expert in the field for years to come. Happy days...

NEW, CONCERNING FACT: Since the dreaded “Credit Squeeze” some lenders have now started to offer more competitive products directly to the public (good news for the buyer!!). These can sometimes be significantly more competitive and an adviser will often not mention these products to you for fear of losing your business directly to the banks (bad news for the buyer!!). This leaves a predicament that we feel needs to be brought to the public’s attention.
