GREENE & CO. HOST CROUCH END FUN DAY AND CHARITY CRICKET MATCH RAISING £3,400 FOR PROJECT BUTTERFLY

Greene & Co. raised £3,400 for the refurbishment of the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead hosting a Crouch End Fun Day on Sunday 13th July. The major event of the day was a Twenty20 Charity Cricket Match between the Greene & Co. Allstars and the Hornsey Cricket Club.

Fun was had by all with activities including “Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent”, a bouncy castle, local trader stalls, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, story telling, face painting and live performances by local artists and bands.

The Twenty20 cricket match between was won (not surprisingly) by the Hornsey Cricket Club with MD of Greene & Co. David Pollock commenting “Let’s be grateful that we are better at selling houses and raising money for charity than we are at playing cricket!” Even with the help of Eastenders Mohammad George (who plays Gus) on the estate agents team, Greene & Co. could not defeat the local cricket club!

£1,700 of the funds raised on the day was through raffle tickets and generous donations. The remaining £1,700 was a donation matched by Greene & Co.

“It was a really successful day,” said organiser of the event, Jacqui Daley, marketing manager of Greene & Co. “It was a grown-up fun fair and a really nice way to meet new people in the Crouch End community. Soggy Sponge the Estate Agent was a big fundraiser and we’re really pleased with the outcome for Project Butterfly.”

Generous Greene & Co. Staff Donate a Days Salary

Our first months initiative was to go straight to our staff who live and work in the area. We are so proud to announce that many of these wonderful generous people have donated a day’s salary and in doing so we have raised over £2,600!

Greene&Co hit the streets and raise £600!

Thanks to the residents of Belsize Park and West Hampstead for the £600 worth of donations given over two days on the streets of Haverstock Hill and West End Lane.

Greene&Co were shaking the bucket and giving away our Very Useful Bags as an incentive for people to open their wallets and hand over the gold coins.

Keep your eyes peeled... we may be out hounding you for your hard-earned £££ on the streets of North London again soon!

More About Project Butterfly

Marie Curie Hospice Hampstead
MAJOR REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

In November 2007 we will be commencing our first refurbishment of the Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead, since it opened in 1976. The aim of the refurbishment is to update the building, both aesthetically and physically so that the facilities match the excellent standard of care provided.

There are 3 main elements to the refurbishment plan:

1. To address a strong patent preference for privacy we will be converting two of our multi-bed wards to create 6 new single rooms, each of these rooms will have an en-suite toilet or bathroom. This will give patients increased privacy and improve facilities for their families, while maintaining one four bed ward for those who prefer more social contact and the companionship of other patients.

2. Refurbishment of all ward areas, including corridors and common areas. The existing suspended ceilings are shabby and old fashioned with an institutional feel and will be replaced.

Patient facilities will be improved to maximise independence and dignity, improvements include accessible toilets and disabled access vanity units. Special bed surround units will be installed so that patients can control their own lighting, heating, TV and internet access (either hardwired or wireless). Beautiful art work will be installed in each room which will have a theme throughout the hospice.

3. Repairs to the external structure of the building and windows will be replaced and double glazed throughout the building. This will create a more comfortable environment for patients and address problems of high heat in the summer and poor insulation in the winter while improving light and ventilation in each room.

We will be refurbishing all the patient rooms to make them warm, welcoming and pleasant with the feel of a hotel rather than hospital room.

The total cost of Project Butterfly is estimated at £3.4m which will need to be raised over the next 12 months.

"I would like to thank you very much for your assistance and services so far and will be sure to return to Greene and Co in the future."
